When a storm or a failed roof lets water in, the damage rarely stays at the roof. Water soaks insulation, runs down wall cavities and stains ceilings far from the actual leak. We stop it from spreading, dry the structure, and protect the building until the roof is repaired.
| What you see | Common cause | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Brown stain ring on a ceiling | Slow roof or flashing leak, or pipe leak above | Attic insulation, roof deck moisture, ceiling above |
| Bulging or sagging ceiling | Water is pooled behind the drywall | Safe release of water, then extent of wet material |
| Drip during or after rain | Active roof opening, failed flashing or chimney | Path of water, walls below, electrical fixtures |
| Peeling paint or wet exterior wall | Wind-driven rain, gutter overflow, window or siding leak | Wall cavity moisture, insulation |
| Musty smell, no visible water | Hidden wet insulation or deck | Thermal imaging, moisture readings, possible mold |
Central Pennsylvania gets severe thunderstorms with wind, heavy rain and occasional hail, and winter brings snow load, ice dams and freeze-thaw cycles. Ice dams form when melting snow refreezes at the eaves, forcing water under shingles and into the attic and walls. That leak can start weeks after the storm.
Older roofs, chimney flashing, skylights and valleys are common failure points, and so are clogged gutters that spill water against the house. A leak that seems minor can go on for a long time and cause damage that you only find later, which is why we check beyond the visible stain.
Fixing the roof and fixing the water damage are two jobs. A roofer repairs or replaces roofing. We protect the building from more water, dry what got wet, and repair the interior, which includes ceilings, insulation, drywall and paint. We can work in step with your roofer so the leak is fixed before interior repairs begin.
For insurance, storm damage claims often involve both the roof and the interior, and adjusters usually want both documented. Photograph the roof damage safely from the ground, save receipts for temporary protection, and read our claims guide.
These figures cover interior water damage and protection. The roof repair itself is quoted separately by a roofer.
| Line item | Typical cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|

| Interior repair (drywall, paint) | See repair and reconstruction | Priced with rebuild work |
| Roof repair (by a roofer) | Quoted by the roofer | Not included in restoration pricing |
For interior water damage and drying from a roof leak. Roof repair itself is priced separately by your roofer.
What moves the price:No. Wet roofs are dangerous. Look from the ground and inside the attic if it is safe, and call a professional.
Not long. Wet drywall and insulation can start growing mold in a day or two, and a bulging ceiling can collapse.
We protect the building and repair the interior. For the roof itself we coordinate with a roofer, or work with yours.
Coverage often depends on whether the damage was sudden, such as from a storm, or from wear and neglect. Your carrier decides, so document everything.
Yes. A slow leak can soak insulation and framing for months. That is why we use moisture readings and imaging instead of relying on the visible stain.
